Smith Jenkins worked on this DfE project to extend and improve the Douay Martyrs School in Ickenham.
The scheme comprised the comprehensive refurbishment of the principal school building, extensions, and the replacement of current outdated outbuildings with a new single storey annex building. All windows to the locally listed building were to be replaced. The school remained operational during the proposed works and temporary teaching accommodation over two floors was required to facilitate this. The school is located in a Conservation Area and the main building is locally listed. Residential properties and a care home adjoin the site. We worked closely with DfE, the contractor and LB Hillingdon to meet the schools needs on this very constrained site.
Two planning applications were submitted in December 2020 following pre-application dialogue with LB Hillingdon, with planning permission granted for both applications in 2021.
