Milton Keynes University Hospital, Milton Keynes

LPA: Milton Keynes City Council

Client: Milton Keynes University Hospital

We were appointed by MKUH to support them with a series of planning applications for the continued  expansion and improvement of its clinical services to meet the growing population of Milton Keynes and its surrounding areas.

Due to heavily constrained nature of the existing Hospital Campus, the Trust had developed an Estate Strategy which required existing car parks to be redistributed to facilitate new buildings.

A phased approach was required to the development, which first sought to address the issues stemming from a loss of parking by redistributing parking within a series of small surface level car park within the wider hospital complex before submitting a application for planning permission for a new ward block.

To meet the project programme, a PPA was agreed for both the car park and Oak Wards applications. Due to funding requirements and to ensure the project programme was not put as risk, both applications included pre-application enquiries and early engagement with the Local Lead Flood Authority, Highways, and ecologist. The applications were progressed using a PPAs to ensure that planning risk was minimised, and permission delivered in a timely manner.

Planning permission has now been granted and works are underway.
