Smith Jenkins were instructed to support the architect and client to support the plans for the regeneration of The Oval Neighbourhood Centre, Stevenage. Taking place over several phases, a Hybrid application was prepared to support the construction of new community facilities and independent living units, a new supermarket, local retail and around 237 new homes on a site together with open space and extensive landscaping.

Working closely with the client and architect, Smith Jenkins provided advice on addressing preapplication comments presenting these to the LPA and other statutory consultees. Having been submitted in December 2022, the application was taken to committee with no objections from statutory consultees and received resolution to grant in July 2023.

Smith Jenkins acted as the planning agent, whilst also providing a Townscape Assessment service to inform the final design
